LEDPowersport® 130W High Power Series H4 and H13 LED headlight bulbs with snowmobile and Yamaha ATV installs in winter conditions

LEDPowersport® 130W High Power Series: H4 & H13 Snowmobile and ATV Install Reviews

When upgrading a snowmobile, ATV, UTV, or other powersports machine from factory halogen headlights to LED, brightness is only part of the equation. Correct bulb fitment, AC/DC electrical compatibility, LED orientation, beam pattern, and proper installation all matter.

The LEDPowersport® 130 Watt High Power Series is built specifically for powersports use and designed for riders looking for a major lighting upgrade over factory halogen headlights.

For snowmobiles, H4 and H13 are two of the most common replaceable headlight bulb configurations. LEDPowersport® also offers High Power Series options for additional powersports applications using H11/H8/H9, 880/881, 9005, and 9006-style bulbs.

Below are three real-world installations: one official LEDPowersport® High Power Series installation and two additional third-party installation/review videos from Rampage Films and Hawg Hunterz Guide Service.

Official LEDPowersport® H4 High Power Series Snowmobile Install

The first video is an official LEDPowersport® installation of our 130W High Power Series H4 LED headlight kit.

This video shows the actual H4 High Power Series installation process, including how the removable/indexable collar works with a factory-style retaining spring and how the LED is installed into the collar after the collar is secured.

H4 High Power Series Installation Tip

Many H4 snowmobile headlight housings use a spring-style retaining clip. The High Power Series collar can be removed from the LED bulb first, allowing the collar to be installed and secured into the factory housing before the LED itself is inserted.

Once the collar is locked into place with the factory retaining spring, insert the LED into its collar and rotate it into position. This makes installation much easier than trying to secure the spring around the complete LED assembly.

Rampage Films – Third-Party H13 Snowmobile High Power Series Install & Review

The next video was created independently by Rampage Films and shows an H13 LEDPowersport® High Power Series installation on a snowmobile.

Because this is third-party content, the installation and opinions shown in the video are Rampage Films' own. We appreciate them taking the time to install the product, show the process, and share their real-world experience.

H13 Snowmobile Fitment

H13 is one of the most common bulb configurations used in many newer snowmobile applications.

  • Polaris 2010+: commonly H13
  • Ski-Doo Gen 4 600R / 850 / 850 Turbo / 900 Turbo: commonly H13
  • Lynx: commonly H13 on compatible replaceable-bulb applications

Always verify the exact year, model, trim, and factory headlight housing before ordering. Factory sealed LED headlight assemblies do not use replaceable H13 conversion bulbs.

Official Install Videos vs. Third-Party Reviews

We believe both types of video are useful when researching a powersports lighting upgrade.

LEDPowersport® installation videos are produced directly by us and focus on installation, fitment, electrical requirements, and product setup.

Third-party videos are created independently by riders, customers, creators, and businesses using the products on their own machines. Their comments and opinions are their own.

Seeing both gives riders the opportunity to compare our technical installation guidance with real-world installations performed outside of our company.

H4 vs. H13 Snowmobile LED Headlights

Feature H4 H13
High / Low Beam Yes Yes
Common Snowmobile Use Very common Very common on many newer sleds
Ski-Doo Common on many pre-Gen4 applications Common on many Gen4 applications
Polaris Varies by application Common on many 2010+ applications
Arctic Cat Common on many 2012+ applications Varies by application

Do Snowmobiles Need Rectifiers for LED Headlights?

Some do.

LED headlights require suitable DC power. Some snowmobiles supply AC power directly to the factory headlight connector. Installing an LED directly onto an AC-powered headlight circuit can result in improper operation or LED damage.

Many Arctic Cat and Polaris applications require an appropriate AC-to-DC rectifier. Some Yamaha snowmobile applications may also require rectification.

Ski-Doo snowmobiles typically operate their headlights on DC power and generally do not require a rectifier.

When there is any question about the machine's electrical system, verify AC versus DC directly at the factory headlight connector before installation.

Why LED Bulb Orientation Matters

LED headlight performance depends on more than raw output.

The position of the LED chips inside the factory reflector changes where the reflector sends the light. An LED that is incorrectly oriented can produce dark spots or a poor beam pattern even if the LED itself produces substantial light.

The indexable design used on the High Power Series allows the bulb to be rotated so the installer can fine-tune the beam.

On many reflector housings, positioning the main LED chipsets toward the left and right sides is a good starting point, but final position should always be based on the actual beam produced by that headlight housing.

  1. Park the machine on level ground facing a wall or garage door.
  2. Turn on the low beam.
  3. Inspect the beam shape and left-to-right coverage.
  4. Rotate the LED if necessary.
  5. Verify high-beam operation.
  6. Adjust the complete factory headlight assembly if overall beam height needs correction.
