Why Gen5 Ski-Doo Riders Want More Light in the Stock Headlight Location

Ski-Doo Gen5 Headlights: More Light in the Stock Location
For years, riders have asked us—online and at Princeton Outlaw, Hay Days, and the Brainerd Grass Drags—how to get more light from their machine’s stock headlight location. We hear this especially from owners whose sleds use sealed LED headlight assemblies.
Many riders aren’t looking to add more auxiliary lights. They want more usable light where the factory headlights already sit—and a way to service individual light pods without replacing an entire sealed assembly.
Why some riders want more from the stock lighting
Some Gen5 owners tell us the factory lighting does not provide the forward light they want for their riding. Ski-Doo offers optional lighting accessories for several areas of the sled, including the front bumper, around the headlight and sides, the high-beam area, riser, handguards, and windshield.
At the U.S. list prices we verified on October 2, 2026, six lighting accessory options we reviewed total about $1,800 ($1,799.94) before tax or installation. The exact combination depends on the model, trim, windshield, bumper, and other fitment requirements; these options are not necessarily all compatible together on every sled.
Auxiliary lights can add illumination in other areas, but they do not replace an upgraded headlight in the stock location. We believe riders should have that option too.
Sealed headlight assemblies can limit repair and upgrade options
Gen5 headlight layouts vary by year, model, and trim. Some sleds use sealed assemblies with multiple LED light sources inside a complete housing. Those internal lights are not interchangeable bulb-style components. If an internal diode or pod fails, the repair may require replacing the full headlight assembly rather than changing one light source.
A replacement assembly for some applications can cost around $600, depending on the exact part and dealer. Sealed assemblies can also leave owners without a direct way to upgrade the light sources in the factory location. A conventional bulb-replacement kit cannot be installed in a housing that was not designed for replaceable bulbs.
A serviceable Gen5 and Lynx headlight system is in development
We’re developing a complete four-pod LED headlight system for compatible Ski-Doo Gen5 and Lynx configurations. The kit is planned to include four separate LED pods, a factory-connector wiring harness, a control switch, a mounting bracket assembly, and a black trim piece.
On four-pod configurations, the layout uses two upper pods and two lower pods. For sleds with sealed factory headlight assemblies, the bracket and trim are designed to replace the sealed-housing arrangement, mount the pods in the stock hood opening, and fill the gaps around them.
The system is being developed as a serviceable headlight assembly. Unlike a sealed factory housing, the separate-pod design is intended to let an individual pod be accessed, serviced, or replaced without replacing the entire headlight assembly.
White headlights with adjustable halo lighting
The system is being developed with dedicated white LED headlight illumination designed to provide higher output than the stock LEDs. Adjustable halo lighting is also planned, with control from the included switch and a phone app. A white halo setting is planned as well.
The included wiring harness is designed to connect to the factory headlight wiring connectors. Prototype testing will confirm final output, beam performance, electrical compatibility, controls, and installation details.
Designed for different Gen5 and Lynx configurations
The development goal is to support compatible sealed and changeable-pod headlight configurations, including setups that use two or four pods. The complete kit includes four pods. The exact year, model, trim, chassis, and configuration fitment will be confirmed through testing before production units are fulfilled.
Riders should identify their exact year, model, trim, and headlight configuration before ordering. Please include your snowmobile details with a pre-order, or contact LEDPowersport® if you’re unsure about fitment.
Pre-order and development status
The LEDPowersport® Ski-Doo Gen5 and Lynx headlight upgrade is currently in development and available for early pre-order at $449.99. The planned regular price after development and testing is $649.99.
Availability is currently targeted for the 2026–2027 snowmobile season. This is not an in-stock product, and pre-order units will not ship immediately. An exact shipping date has not been announced.
Prototype testing will confirm fitment, white-light output, beam positioning, electrical compatibility, halo controls, pod serviceability, and production timing. Final specifications and compatibility will be published as they are verified. Concept renderings may differ from the finished product.
